GREEN TEA: Drink tea, live longer

-- Green tea drinkers live longer – new study
Put the kettle on, people, because green tea is more than just a soothing cuppa – it’s nature’s defence against cancer.
Research involving 100,902 participants from China compared habitual tea drinkers (more than three times a week) with non-habitual tea drinkers (less than three times a week).
The results will make you splutter into your cup.
Habitual tea drinkers who maintained their habit over the seven-year research period had a 39 percent lower risk of incidents of heart disease and stroke, 56 percent lower risk of fatal heart disease and stroke, and 29 percent decreased risk of all-cause death compared to consistent never or non-habitual tea drinkers.
Never mind that habitual tea drinkers were more likely to be smokers and alcohol drinkers.
Looks like all those polyphenols are gravely underrated. But they’re not stored in the body long-term, which perhaps explains why guzzlers are healthier.
No significant associations were observed for black tea.
Go green.
