From root to yellow flower, Dandelions are rich in beta-carotene and polyphenolic compounds, both of which possess strong antioxidant properties.
Lately the dandelion root has attracted growing interest on the back of research highlighting the plant’s cancer-fighting potential.
A study conducted by the University of Windsor in Ontario discovered that dandelion root extract could incite human melanoma cells to attack and kill themselves.
Further lab testing highlighted dandelion’s cancer cell killing potential for cancers of the pancreas, blood, and colon.
A 2008 study published in the International Journal of Oncology reported a link between dandelion tea and reduced breast and prostate cancer cells.
A phase-1 human clinical trial of dandelion root extract was approved by Health Canada in 2016.
