DOCTOR’S ORDERS: On ya bike

Doctors in Cardiff are prescribing pedal power to put their patients on the path to better health.
The ground-breaking pilot scheme will see local GPs prescribe patients a six-month membership to bike sharing scheme Nextbike, in a bid to reduce heart disease.
Regular exercise cuts the risk of death from heart disease by half and also reduces health risks associated with other ailments, including obesity and various types of cancer.
The cycling programme also reflects an effort by medical professionals around the world to give patients alternatives to drugs to avoid side effects and cut treatments costs.
Watch out for drivers. And always wear a helmet – though opinion is divided on that front.
