LET’S DRINK: Animal free milk
April 07, 2019 • 1 min read
Soy milk and almond milk introduced the world to protein rich, calcium deficient, and average tasting plant-based milk.
Along with rice, coconut, and hemp, a growing list of plants are ending up in a milk bottle, boosting the market for plant-based milk, which is expected to exceed USD 34 billion by 2024.
The real thing?
New entrant Perfect Day looks set to lead a new generation of animal-free milk manufacturers, using microflora and fermentation techniques to make the very same dairy protein (casein and whey) produced by cows. And they claim it tastes like the real thing.
The company has partnered global food giant Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE: ADM) to commercialise the product.
Pour that on your cereal (though, be sure to skip the oats).
