HEALTH TECH: Forget about boot camp – get moving with a DNA inspired workout

Heartrate monitors and, more recently, wearables including Fitbit and other appified devices tracking exercise and eating habits have put technology at the beating heart of health measurement.
But there’s only so much you can do with basic tracking information.
Next generation health tech goes beyond simple activity tracking, combining DNA tests and analysis to provide personalised workouts and diet recommendations.
Trippy new companies like FitnessGenes, a start-up offering genetically styled nutrition and workout advice, analyses dozens of genes for vascular function, exercise response, sleep cycles, and a host of other personal characteristics to provide precise recommendations.
A good thing, I guess. No point in all that jogging if your DNA pegs you as a non-responder. And that’s good enough for investors in the London-based start-up, who last year stumped up $5 million of Series A for a stake in the company.
